Condolences to mahogany conference tables everywhere and a story that didn’t need to be told?
I work in Guildford and today I was asked to travel away from my unit to Reading, this takes 30-40 minutes depending on the stops you have to make. I was going to be shown a new sales and wages forecasting tool by a fellow manager in the company I work for.
Before it can be rolled out across the country, it needs to be tested and prove to be more productive than our current methods. Another manager in my area and I were asked to be the guinea pigs.
It cost the business for my time and my travel for a thirty minute briefing into this new tool. I also missed my train by just one minute on my return journey which left me stuck there for even longer. Three hours after I set off it was home time!
The new tool couldn’t have been talked about over the phone without seeing the same screen and pointer because of the complexity of it. There isn’t a user guide for it yet either as it’s still being trialled.
However, if we had used join.me we could have all watched the same screen and used it messenger service to communicate as we went!
As they say or their website “Get everybody on the same page, when they’re not in the same room, instantly. Review documents and designs. Train staff. Demo products or just show off. join.me is a ridiculously simple screen sharing tool for meetings on the fly.”

Join.me works in 5 simple steps:
1) The host downloads the hosting software (this takes 1 minute to setup)
2) Once setup, click the ‘share your screen with others’ button
3) Your line is setup and you are given a nine digit code.
4) Share the code with the people you want to see your screen
5) The other uses type the code into the ‘join’ option on the join.me homepage.
DONE!
On the free version you can have up to a massive 250 people viewing your screen. You can share who’s controlling the screen. The chat feature allows anyone in the meeting to chat simultaneously via messenger. You can send files whilst in them meeting to other watchers.
One of the biggest advantages to join.me – It supports IPad, IPhone and Android! So when you’re on the move as long as you have a connection you can view the same screen! Genius.
The Pro version offers some extra cool features that you can try out for free on a 14 day trial but to be honest with you the free version is great anyway!
The next time I can save myself the time and expense of having to view a screen in person, I will with this great site!
Do you have anything to say about Join.Me?
